June 2013

Oquawka icon and school teacher Mildred Saville bought the house in 1948.  When she died in 2002, it started to decline.  By June 2013 it was decided that demolition should begin.  Here are the pictures.  Click on any thumbnail below for a larger image.

This is the way the house looked on Monday of it's final days.

By Thursday the asbestos siding had been removed, followed by the roof of the carport.

Serious demolishing of the building was on Saturday.

On the rainy Sunday afternoon, all that is left is part of the western foundation wall and a vacant lot.
